Below are the announcements for the week of September 19th – 23rd.

Goal Sheets:
Students should be filling out goal sheets every week.  They should pick them up in class.  These should be filled in with 5 goals for their practice for the week.  When they accomplish a goal, they should check the box next to that goal.  These will help them focus their practice time each day, as well as help me plan future lessons.

Playing Tests This Week:
8th Grade Brass and Woodwinds:  Concert C Major Scale (Tuesday 9/20)
7th Grade Percussion:  Single Paradiddle and Gb Major Scale (Tuesday 9/20)
7th Grade Brass and Woodwinds:  Note Name Test retake (I am attempting to have this happen during the FIT session on Wednesday during school.  If not, it will happen during class in the
next week or so.)

Website:
The website is back up with a new design thanks to our webmaster, Carla Sohns.  She is still in the process of getting all the info that was on the old site loaded on the new site.  Please
continue to check the site for updates.  My band email address is now working again.  Please be sure to set your email programs to allow emails from director@bonlinband.org so that
you are sure to receive communications from me.  You can still reach me at my school email address as well.

All-West Help Sessions:
Our Thursday afternoon All-West help session will not happen next week due to Honor Band auditions.  We will continue on September 22 for any student who would like help with the All-West audition music.

BLMS Honor Band Auditions Results:
Congratulations to everyone who made the BLMS Honor Band and Jazz Band.  The results have been attached to this email.  The first rehearsal will be Tuesday October 4th at 7:30 am.  Please be sure to arrive on time.

Practicing:
I would like to remind everyone that I expect everyone to spend at least 30 minutes per day practicing.  It is incredibly important to have consistent practice habits, especially when we don’t have class every day.  Students should use that time to prepare for the next class, as well as to practice concepts that I have previously taught them.

Private Lessons:
I would like to speak to the benefits of private lessons.  Whether your goal is to make All-West, or to eventually earn a college scholarship, private lessons will put you on the right path to achieving that goal.  I have attached a list of some local private teachers.  This is by no means a comprehensive list, but the musicians on this list I can vouch for personally as being high quality.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Band Room Supplies:
We are in need of some small supplies for the band room.  If you are willing and able to donate some copy paper or tissue, it would be of great help.
